Washington Hybrid vehicle purchase Tax Incentives

Emissions Inspection Exemption: Effective June 13, 2002, hybrid motor vehicles that obtain a rating by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency of at least 50 miles per gallon of gas during city driving are also exempt from emissions control inspections. (Reference RCW 46.16.015)
Tax Incentives for Clean Alternative Fuel Vehicles: From 1/1/09-1/1/11, retail sales tax of 6.5 % levied by Revised Code of Washington (RCW) 82.08.020 does not apply to sales of new passenger cars, light duty trucks, and medium duty passenger vehicles, which utilize hybrid technology and have a United States environmental protection agency estimated highway gasoline mileage rating of at least forty miles per gallon nor does the state use tax of 82.12 RCW. Hybrid Internet Sales (bill): H.B. 3256 would allow automobile manufacturers, internet retailers, and other businesses to engage in the sale of new hybrid vehicles as long as those entities comply with relevant state tax, environmental, and consumer protection laws.
